Six Reasons to go on a One-day Yoga Retreat
At Joyful Living we believe that everyone can benefit from taking time out for a one-day Yoga retreat – even if you’ve never practised yoga before. Here are our top six reasons:
According to the UK Statistics Authority a record 17 million working days were lost last year due to stress, anxiety and depression. Stress is a huge issue now and one we have to consciously think about combating. A one-day retreat gives you time away to rest and switch off from the outside world.
2: LEARN NEW SKILLS
Whether you are new to yoga or a dedicated yogi, you are sure to learn something new. The best thing is you can go away at the end of the day and put your newly learnt poses into practice. You can’t really do that when you come back from a spa-day.
3: BE PRESENT
Mindfulness is hot right now and for good reason. Most of us don’t find time to enjoy the thing we are doing right now. Instead our minds are on the next thing (or usually the next, next thing) we have to do. Being mindful helps us to be more aware, helping us to engage and enjoy what we are working on.
4: UN-PLUG FROM THE WORLD
In today’s day and age it’s easy to be addicted to our technology and feel that we have to respond to texts and Facebook posts. Sometimes though, it does us good to un-plug and be free from the constant grabs for our attention.
5: MEET LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE
It’s not a meet-up group but you’ll find yourself making new friends quickly on a retreat – after all, you’ve already got something in common. For many yogi is something they go to alone so it’s good to spend a day with other yogis.
6: YOU TIME!
Everyone deserves to take time out but many of us don’t. Me time enables you to refresh and recharge. You’ll be surprised what a difference taking one day out of a busy schedule can make – from de-stressing to helping the creative juices flow.
